Research Area

My research is broadly in the areas of quantitative systems biology, biophysics, and bioinformatics and includes both quantitative modeling of biological systems and developing novel methods for data analysis. Another goal of my work is to use physical modeling to help in developing optimal experimental design. Problems that I work on are mostly related with different aspects of gene expression and its regulation, and recent interests include: i) modeling transcription initiation in bacteria ii) understanding design of simple genetic circuits iii) understanding how proteins recognize functional binding sites in genome.
